"If You Go Out in the Woods Today..." Art journal, ink
My daughter Stacey has been suggesting lately that I do a blind contour drawing, so today I took up the challenge and did one of her teddy bears. The result is a bit creepy, so I named it after the children's song about the teddy bears' picnic, which is also vaguely menacing.
A blind contour drawing, in case you don't know, is an exercise for training your "right brain" or warming up for a "real" drawing. You put your pen on the paper and draw without lifting it, and without looking at the paper. You just gaze at your subject, following its contours with your eyes (and your pen on the paper). The results can be pretty interesting!
