"Tableau" Pastel, 13.5 x 22"
I've been in a bit of a slump lately. I have managed to do something or other in my art journal every day, but I haven't shown you a completed painting for more than two weeks. This will not do. I have a few shows in the works, and I can't exhibit my art journal.
My friend Sandra and I are participating together in the Artists of the Limberlost studio tour in Huntsville in August. She needs to get busy too, making her beautiful coiled rope baskets. So we made a pact: three pieces each per week.
You wouldn't know it from my efforts so far this year, but pastel is my "primary" medium, by which I mean the one I have the most training in and experience with, the one for which I have won awards. More than a hundred days into my year of living artfully, I hadn't touched my pastels until I tackled this piece, which I actually started and then abandoned several years ago. I'm a bit rusty, and it took me longer than I expected, but I'm declaring it finished now.
One down, two to go!
